One remaining VW T2 Campervan for sale
This week we waved a sad farewell to (no longer) “our” Ziggy Starvan. To say it feels like splitting up a family, is accurate to how we’re feeling.
Ziggy was always going to be the hardest, as he was the one I (Ishbel) wanted to keep the most. Echoes of “we can’t keep them all” running through my brain right now.
None of the sales were easy. Richie felt the loss of Oor Wullie the hardest, perhaps because he always loved driving him so much and they shared a birth year.
Lola was hard on us both, as she was the first T2 we owned and from where our campervan hire business evolved.
Now it seems it’s our turn to grieve Ziggy but I’m one of life’s eternal optimists, so I can spin most negatives to positives, thankfully it’s how my mind is wired.
Today I am appreciating how lucky we are to continue our custodianship of Agnes, The Nodpod, Marlyn and Meg.
Meg is out on Wedding duties today, so despite closing our self-drive hire business last year, we are fortunate enough to still be sharing the joy of our VWs with couples ‘tying the knot’ and their family and friends.
So that leaves just one family member looking for a new home soon and that’s our stunning 1979 T2 Devon Moonraker, Blondie.
So, what about her and the final opportunity for you to own a slice of Volkswagen and Vintage VW Campers history?
Blondie has recently been in for some welding work and is soon to head for MOT, once that and any subsequent work is completed, she will be advertised for sale. Interested parties can email [email protected] in advance.
Regular Vintage VW Campers Guests know how I loved each of our campers for different reasons. For me the sleeping and living arrangements in Blondie set her apart. She was the only one of the fleet that I slept in the roof of. Blondie’s roofbed is a huge double, with the roof hinged along one side and I loved all the space up there! It also meant that you left the downstairs rock and roll bed set as a sofa, allowing an up and downstairs living room and bedroom. That was because we always went away as a couple in her but our Guests regularly inhabited both double beds, of course.
Another thing to be grateful for is that the couples who purchased Oor Wullie, Lola and Ziggy are all very lovely and appreciative of the custodianship they have taken on. So, if you are a previous Guest reading this and feeling sad, please don’t. Your beloved hire vehicle has happily retired to its new home and adventures.
